Tai Ji Quan: Moving For Better Balance
- What is Tai Ji Quan: Moving For Better
Balance?
Tai Ji Quan: Moving For Better Balance (TJQMFBB) helps older adults improve their balance and reduce the likelihood of falling. Research has shown that people who complete the program are half as likely to fall and are less fearful of falling.
About Tai Ji Quan at LAOA
- The Lao Advancement Organization of America (LAOA) has adopted the Tai Ji Quan program as a mean to improve the health and wellness of Lao elders. The program consists of an 8-form routine core with built-in exercise variations and subroutine of integrated therapeutic movements. The goals of the program are to improve both static and dynamic postural stability, mindful control of body positioning in space, functional walking activities, movement symmetry and coordination, and to increase range of motion around the ankle joints and build lower-extremity strength. The ultimate goal is to help our elder improve on their performance of daily functional tasks and reduce incidence of falls.
Reduce your risk of falls by improving balance, muscle strength, flexibility and mobility through coordinated movements in a slow, circular, flowing motion.
Relax and have fun with Tai Chi!
